I love a good celebration and Denafrips is toasting 12-years in business with the new Anniversary Editions of the company’s popular Terminator II & Terminator PLUS NOS DACs.
Most of what’s new for the 12th Anniversary Editions lies inside and includes new copper foil shielded O-Core AC transformers made from a high purity gold/silver/copper alloy encased in their own 1.5mm thick metal alloy enclosure, optimized critical circuitry, and the I2S and S/PDIF inputs now connect directly to the FPGA with no I/C’s in the signal path.
The Digital Processing Board and R-2R ladder network arrays are completely isolated on separate boards, while the oven-controlled crystal oscillators sit dead center on the DAC board for super short signal paths.
The Terminator II & Terminator PLUS offer a full suite of digital inputs and single-ended and balanced outputs and come in back or silver aluminum chassis and wear the “12th” badge up front. The original Denafrips Terminator II DAC (review) sits on my Favorite DAC list along with the Denafrips ARES II DAC (review) and PONTUS DAC (review).
