I recently showed up, virtually, for some pints with Ayre to discuss Listening Tests. I don’t know about you, but I crave a beer whenever I hear the word test when it comes to hifi.

iFi has introduced a new Signature version of their popular Micro iDSD DAC / Headphone Amplifier and they have a lot to say about it.

The new McIntosh Labs MA12000 Hybrid Integrated Amplifier, the company’s most powerful integrated yet, includes their DA2 DAC Module which means all you need to add is speakers and you’re off to the races. OK, maybe a forklift, too.

As regular readers have discovered, I like multi-function devices like integrated amplifiers, streaming DACs, and even streaming integrated amplifiers. Bryston’s new BR-20 Preamplifier packs a streamer, DAC, and headphone amplifier inside for people who are in love with their power amplifier. Nice.

Style and substance from the 1970s.
