Toothbrush? Check. 4 pair socks? Check. Spare camera battery? Check. Packing for a hifi show is glamorous.
Rockville, MD, home to the Capital Audiofest, is 200 miles from the Barn. Just under 4 hours and it’s an easy drive mostly highway mostly through PA.
Even with the barrage of pre-show emails, I expect to see and hear the unexpected at CAF 2026 because it has grown into a bigger show with about 200 rooms, booths, and tables spread out over 5 floors according to my quick count. A lot to see and hear.
My favorite part about going to hifi shows, and CAF is my favorite in these terms, is to connect to people and a community with shared interests even if the particulars differ. HiFi shows are many things for many people but they are also a celebration and I’m long overdue for some.
See you there!
