HiFi Bargain: AudioQuest DragonFly Copper USB DAC

Here’s what I said in the review, “Considering its $250 asking price and performance, the AudioQuest DragonFly Copper is a genuine screamin’ HiFi bargain.” I’m making it official.

AudioQuest has been refining its DragonFly USB DACs for years with each new iteration and Copper is certainly the best of the bunch.

For $250 smackers you get a USB DAC—USB A or C input/3.5mm stereo output—that can drive headphones or in my case send its analog out to a pair of powered speakers for a simple great sounding desktop system. Better yet, DragonFly Copper is well-engineered for both test bench and music lovers. What’s not to like.

“Here in the Barn my desktop system is a critical tool for music discovery and enjoyment and after more than 20 years of reviewing, I’ve become picky. Picky about the tools I use and I’ll admit that it only took a handful of familiar tracks played through the ADAM A3X for the DragonFly Copper to make me smile. A smile caused by better. Considering its $250 asking price and performance, the AudioQuest DragonFly Copper is a genuine screamin’ HiFi bargain.”
