“Dopamine Chamber takes its title from the idea of a record as a room the listener steps into.”
The album notes go on from lead singer Grian Chatten:
“The album itself is a dopamine chamber,” says Chatten. “You step inside and we test these different mind- or mood-altering pieces of music on you.”
And what a room it is. Fontaines D.C. remind me of the music and bands I grew up with, not because their music sounds like The Doors or Led Zeppelin but because it sounds and feels equally anthemic. Larger than life.
Dopamine Chamber is the Irish band’s 5th studio album and a sonic evolution that trades surface tension and flash for deeper seductive moods while keeping everything simmering just below mayhem. Or abandon.
