I’ve long admired the speakers from Sweden’s Marten at HiFi shows over the years but I’ve never had the pleasure of living with a pair. Until now.
To my eyes, the 2.5 way Marten Parker Trio lean toward the elegant side of design. The ceramic 1″ tweeter and 7.5″ mid/bass drivers are made to designer Leif Olofsson’s specifications and when combined with a pair of rear-firing 9″ aluminum passive radiators offer a claimed frequency response of 26-40000 Hz (+-2dB). That, is full range.
Marten has gone to great lengths to all but eliminate cabinet resonances with the use of multi-layered M-Board in the cabinet’s tapered sides and custom footers developed in conjunction with IsoAcoustics.
A single pair of WBT Nextgen binding posts are surrounded by a mirror polished stainless steel badge that matches the mirror polished stainless steel stands and feet.
The Parker series, named after Charlie Parker, sits in the middle of Marten’s jazz inspired lineup and is comprised of the larger Parker Quintet and the smaller Parker Duo stand mount. The review pair came in the Piano Walnut finish. Matte Walnut and Piano Black are also available.
While I can’t talk about how they sound, yet, I can tell you the Parker Trio’s build quality is impressive (and elegant). I look forward to spending real Barn-time just listening.
