“I Want to Take You Higher” should be the theme song for B&W’s 800 Series that have enjoyed a running series of upgrades since their introduction in 1979. The company has just announced two new “ultimate” models—the 801 and 805 D4 Signature.

The 800 Series Signature speakers differ from the 800 Series Diamond versions with upgraded Aerofoil Profile bass cones in the 801, improved port design, upgraded crossovers, and significantly upgraded cabinet design with an all-new, optimized aluminum top section for even greater stiffness. Both D4 Signatures use the company’s Diamond Dome tweeter / Solid Body Tweeter-on-Top with an all-new tweeter grille, Continuum cone FST midrange drivers, and come in upgraded finishes including California Burl Gloss and Midnight Blue Metallic.
On paper, the the new 800 D4 Series Signature speakers share the same frequency response and sensitivity as their less expensive D4 stablemates—15Hz to 28kHz (+/-3dB from reference axis), 90dB (on axis at 2.83Vrms at 1m respectively)—but their in room performance is said to be superior.

From the press release:
Dave Sheen, Brand President of Bowers & Wilkins said: “800 Series Signature represents the coming together of everyone across the Bowers & Wilkins brand, from our colleagues in manufacturing to our world-class engineering teams in R&D, to produce the very best loudspeakers that we have ever made. I’m incredibly proud of the collective effort that has gone into producing the new 800 Series Signature models and I can’t wait to hear what both reviewers and our customers make of them.”
The new B&W 800 Series Signature speakers are available from select dealers worldwide.
