In Barn for Review: Audio Hungary Qualiton X200 Integrated Amplifier

The X200 Integrated Amplifier joined the Qualiton Classic Series of electronics late last year. It has just joined me in the Barn to play with the other Barn residents and guests.

Offering 100 Watts of output power per channel generated by a quad of KT 120 beam tetrodes (or optional KT150), the X200 includes 4x RCA line level inputs, 1x XLR input for use with an external preamplifier, 1x Unbalanced input for use with an external preamplifier, EQ out, Sub out, and I saved the best for last — a MM (Moving Magnet) phono input. A single pair of speaker binding posts and IEC inlet complete the X200’s business end.

The X200s shiny front faceplate houses access to the Bias trim pots, Bias selector to move between output tubes, input selector, Bass and Treble controls (i.e. boost controls), 3/4″ headphone jack, and volume control. The on/off switch is the unit’s back left side.

Joining the KT120s in the input and driver side are pairs of 6922s and 12AX7s.

A tube cage is provided to protect the tubes from curious humans along with a nice chunky remote volume control.

I look forward to the warm glow, sans cage. Stay tuned.
