Answer: I saw a photo of Kim Gordon wearing a Bardo Pond t-shirt.
Question: How did you first hear about Bardo Pond?
And when Kim Gordon shouts out, I listen.
Melt Away, released yesterday on Matador Records, is another Bardo Pond compilation, a double LP’s worth of rarities from the late 1990s:
Melt Away, the new double LP compilation, catalogues late-’90s rarities and outtakes from a creative apex in Bardo Pond’s career. Of these, album highlight ‘The Trail’, originally recorded for the 1997 compilation What’s Up Matador, dissolves six minutes into a moment. Blink once and you’ll miss it. Blink twice and the wallpaper might begin to move.
I hear a large dollop of Sonic Youth and NY Noise which is all right by me. Bardo Pond was Isobel Sollenberger (Violin, Vocals), John Gibbons (Synthesizer, Guitar, Percussion, Feedback), Michael Gibbons (Synthesizer, Guitar), and Clint Takeda (Bass, Snake Guitar) with a few different drummers during this period with most tracks extending beyond the 5-minute mark.
Psych trippy & jammy. Yum.
