The Powered JBL 4305P Streaming Studio Monitor: Be Still My Beating Heart

Little horns are too cute. Little powered streaming horns? Too cool.

Each new JBL 4305P Studio Monitor sports a 1-inch compression driver mounted in a High-Definition Imaging horn powered by its own 25W Class D amp, and a 5.25-inch cast frame fiber-composite cone woofer powered by a 125W Class D amp of its own in a bass-reflex configuration with dual front-firing tuned ports. While the press release did not offer overall dimensions, that 5″ driver tells us we’re looking at a relatively small horn. Too cute.

For the streaming piece, the Roon-Ready (!) 4305P offers wired and wireless network audio, Google Chromecast Built-in, Apple AirPlay 2, and Bluetooth audio all run through its 24-bit/192kHz high-resolution DAC. Inputs include asynchronous USB, Toslink, 3.5mm analog input, and combination XLR / 1⁄4-inch TRS phono connectors with a selectable input sensitivity switch for use with balanced or unbalanced signals. The inclusion of this “prosumer-grade” input provides the option for balanced XLR and 1⁄4-inch TRS (tip/ring/sleeve) or unbalanced TS (tip/sleeve) connections perfect for use in home studio applications for music, video, and podcast creation.

The pair are configured as a primary and secondary affair, with the primary offering front mounted controls for volume and input selection, the aforementioned inputs, along with a rear mounted switch to select L/R placement. The pair can be connected via WiFi for 24-bit/96kHz max resolution or wired using the included 2M Gigital Link cable for 24-bit/196kHz max resolution.

“The 4305P Studio Monitor has everything you need for a completely self-contained, high-performance audio system,” said Jim Garrett, Senior Director, Product Strategy and Planning, HARMAN Luxury Audio. “The sound we are able to deliver from such a small enclosure simply must be heard to be believed.”

The 4305P’s 3/4″ thick MDF cabinet is covered in a real wood veneer finish that comes in Natural Walnut with a blue grille or Black Walnut with a black grille.

The JBL 4305P Studio Monitor will be available in the first quarter of 2022 with a retail price of $2,200.
