I had to know. How would it work to have my rack between the speakers?
One big plus with this move would result in more room behind the rack, making access to cables much easier and I had a hunch it would look better too. Part of the reason it took so long for me to try this move is my rack weighs over 200lbs, which gets heavier each passing year, but a dolly and careful lifting made the job a breeze.
And I couldn’t have been happier with the outcome—visually and functionally. Having the rack behind the speakers looked more right and offered better photo ops! But did this change change the sound of my system? After all, the front wall is over 7′ from the speakers and my initial impressions suggested things sounded just fine…
