Peacocks, Peonies, and the Mola Mola Tambaqui DAC: Beauty Comes In Many Guises

I am thrilled to welcome the Mola Mola Tambaqui DAC into the Twittering Machines reference system.

As anyone who’s read my recent review of the Mola Mola Kula knows, I am a fan. The Kula I reviewed came with the optional DAC module, which is based on the Tambaqui DAC, and if you’ve read my review of the Tambaqui, you know I’m a fan. A fan of every aspect of these Mola Mola products from form to function to fun, which explains why I am thrilled to have the Tambaqui here as a Barn resident.

The Mola Mola Tambaqui is an addition to my reference system, with no related subtractions to speak of. In other words, the totaldac d1-tube DAC/Streamer will remain, thus giving me, and you, a wider frame of reference for digital performance and ongoing comparisons.

the Tambaqui is a streaming Roon-Ready DAC, something else that makes me very happy

Performance and ongoing comparisons is, without a doubt, the most requested feature from TM readers. Understandably so, when shopping for hifi gear and looking to get the most bang for one’s buck. How did A compare to B and Z? But more often than not, I cannot offer such comparisons because I didn’t have B and Z here in the Barn while A was getting the review treatment, making in-depth, play-by-play A/B/Z comparisons impossible.

Wouldn’t it be great to have more than one reference DAC? I had this thought well over a year ago, and it has finally come to fruition. Join me in welcoming the Mola Mola Tambaqui to the Barn as another resident character in our ongoing hifi story.
