Meet Volti Audio’s New Vittora Loudspeakers

Greg Roberts’ Volti Audio first developed their Vittoria Horns in 2010. The New Vittoria are bigger and, according to Volti, even better.

Here are a few highlights of the new design from Volti:

  • Tweeters are now centered above the mid-horn
  • There is now a larger mid-horn that integrates with the bass horn even better than before
  • The Bass Horn has increased in size and extends deeper into the bass and has a more intricate throat design and horn pathway with better upper bass definition
  • All grills are now removable, as the insides of the Bass Horn and the Midrange Horn are completely finished (painted/veneered)
  • Improved crossover design and components
  • Improved crossover isolation using IsoAcoustic decoupling feet and careful inductor location within the tophat provides all the benefits of external crossovers
  • A completely new ELF (Extended Low Frequency) system with two ELF cabinets, 1000 watts of power, digital processing, and a separate preamp with remote volume control

Here’s bit more on the ELF System from the Volti website:

ELF system components:

ELF12 – a stoutly built, specially tuned, ported cabinet with a 12″ sub driver
ELF18 – a stoutly built, specially tuned, ported cabinet with a 18″ sub driver
ELFamp – a 500 watt amplifier with processor
ELFpre – a preamplifier that provides connectivity options to the main system, remote gain control, and numeric display for balancing the system on the fly.

The ELF system can be configured in a number of different ways, depending on the size of the room and coverage desired. A single ELF18 will be fine for most rooms. A dual ELF12 system will provide approximately the same acoustic power as the single ELF18, but with better coverage in the room. Any number of ELF cabinets can be used to provide coverage and the acoustic energy needed for any size room.

The New Vittoria boast a very amp friendly 104dB efficiency while low end frequency response will depend on which ELF System you choose, which takes over from the bass horn below 50Hz. In terms of finish options, the forest is the limit and you can see some pictured on the Volti website.

The Volti Audio New Vittoria loudspeakers are available now with prices starting at $50,000/pair which includes two main Vittora loudspeakers, two ELF12 bass speaker cabinets, two ELFamp amplifier/processors, one ELFpre with remote control.

Here’s the press release from Greg Roberts/Volti Audio:

The New Vittoria is Here

A four-year redevelopment of our flagship model has resulted in significant improvements in build-quality, aesthetics, functionality and of course sound quality

The DNA of all Volti speakers originates from the Vittora.

The original Vittora was the first speaker that I developed back when I started Volti Audio in 2010. They were an instant success at the shows and with my customers, due to their unique design features, beautiful finish work, and of course their incredible sound.

Back then, people were simply not used to hearing a horn speaker that had all the usual horn speaker attributes – dynamic impact, liveliness, big wide-open soundstage – but at the same time delivering a natural, refined and effortless quality with wide-bandwidth not normally found on older or lesser-quality horn speakers.

The New Vittora is significantly better than the original in every way. It is the best work I’ve done to date as a speaker designer and builder.

The Vittora is a three-way, fully horn-loaded loudspeaker with 104db sensitivity and a frequency response of 50hz (in room) to 20Khz, 8ohm. Power handling is 1/2 to 200wpc. Low frequency support below 50Hz is via the Volti Audio ELF system, a proprietary system designed and built to integrate with the speed and unique characteristics of the Vittora bass horn.

Learn about how the ELF system works by visiting the Vittora webpage on the Volti Audio website.
