When I hear GoldenEar, I think value.
The reason being, I’ve reviewed the top of their line Triton Reference Towers (review) and the bookshelf sized HiFi Bargain BRX have been my go-to reference for an affordable overachieving stand mount. When the request came in, would I be interested in reviewing the Triton One.R, “Yes” was about the length of my reply.
Like its larger Reference sibling, the Triton One.R includes an active subwoofer powered by a 1600 watt GoldenEar SuperSub digital amplifier that drives three racetrack shaped active subwoofer drivers, coupled to dual side-mounted 7″ x 10″ quadratic planar infrasonic bass radiators. That sub system delivers bottom end reach down to 13Hz according to the company. Woof!
Two 5.25” upper bass/midrange drivers are housed in dual discreet midrange chambers, arranged in a D’Appolito array surrounding the GoldenEar Reference High-Gauss High-Velocity Folded Ribbon tweeter, the same one found in the Triton Reference.
The 54″ high Triton One.R’s super slender front profile along with their super reflective hand-rubbed piano black lacquer finish make them appear nearly not there. With a rated efficiency of 92dB, they’re also relatively easy to drive (GoldenEar recommends 20 – 650 Watts/channel. Really, up to 650).
