Ever since I reviewed the Gauder Akustik Capello 100 speakers, I’ve wondered what a bigger Gauder would sound like in Barn.
Part of the reason for my curiosity is I really enjoyed my time with the Capello 100 about which I said in the opening paragraphs of that review:
I’ll let you in on a little secret—while I have Favorites, within those favorites I have favorites.
I call these favorites within favorites The Short List, a list I share with Patrons, and the Capello 100 are on it because they do what I want a loudspeaker to do which is offer up music in a way that grabs and shakes me with surprise and delight, something the Capello 100 did each and every time I listened through them over their 2 month Barn stay.

Part two of the piqued my interest plot is I got to hear the new Elargo 200 at Axpona 2025 paired with lots of Accuphase gear in a large room blasting Queen’s “Bicycle Race” to dizzying heights.

Here are the high points of the Elargo Series from Gauder Akustik:
- drop-shaped, acoustically advantageous enclosure
- GAUDER Akustik XPulse drivers
- Midrange driver in closed enclosure
- Beryllium tweeter
- Symmetrical, ultra-steep crossover
- Integrated TDC Time Delay Control
- Steep filters > 50 dB/octave
- exclusively components from Mundorf, IT and WBT
- Bass Extension System
- adjustable bass volume in three stages (-1.5 dB, linear, +1.5 dB)
- WBT BiWiring binding posts
- Clearwater internal wiring
- large, easily adjustable stand
- Front-grille with magnetic holder optionally available
The 3-way/4 driver bass reflex design Elargo 200 are larger than the Capello 100 in every dimension and come outfitted with dual 22cm bottom ported XPulse bass drivers, an XPulse midrange driver, and beryllium tweeter.

The Elargo offer two sets of WBT binding posts for biwiring or biamping as well as a “Bass Control” adjustment (∓ 1.5dB) and for even more bass control you can employ the included Bass Extension Modules which plug into that “Bass Extension” slot.

You can read more about these Modules in use in my review of the Capello 100.

The Elargo sit on nice wide bases with easily adjustable spikes for leveling and to give those bottom ports some room to breath.

So here I sit looking at the Elargo 200, eagerly awaiting their slide into the listening position on the A-Side which will happen soon after I hit “Publish” on this post.
