CAF 2021: Audio Note

UK’s Audio Note greats visitors with a familiar setup and sound.

The company’s AN-E/SPe HE Speakers ($12,450) — I count 17 different AN-E speaker models that use different materials for the 8″ bass driver (hemp or paper cone, copper or silver voice coils, AlNiCo magnets, capacitor type, and copper or silver conductors) mated to a 1″ tweeter (upper end models also employ AlNiCo magnets) — like to live in room corners for bass reinforcment.

The big and  beefy Audio Note Meishu Phono 300B Tonemeister Silver Amplifier ($19,300) provided the power (about 8 Watts/channel) while the TT-3 Turntable with TT-3 Upgraded PSU ($16,532), ARM-Three/II ($2,466), and IQ III Moving Magnet cartridge ($1,249) took care of the records.

To my mind and ears, some sonic characteristics are to be expected from Audio Note systems regardless of the specifics that include a natural ease and easy musicality. The system at CAF 2021 delivered on this promise. I hope to be taking a much closer look and listen to a Meishu Phono Tonemeister Integrated Amp in the not too distant future. Stay tuned…
