Eelco Grimm of Grimm Audio played a number of carefully curated tracks, I’m guessing one for Robert Harley from The Absolute Sound who was seated next to me including a 1980’s recording of José Carreras performing Ariel Ramirez’s Misa Criolla that was breathtaking through this relaxed yet highly resolving simple yet complex system.
Next up was Flea featuring Nick Cave on vocals from the former’s new album Honora in a performance of “Wichita Lineman” that cracked Eelco up and had my mind shifting more gears than an out of shape cyclist climbing Mt Washington in an attempt to make sense of Cave’s nearly monotone deadpan take on the Glen Campbell classic. John-Paul Lizars of Grimm Audio North America put Eelco up to playing that track for me and it’s become a custom for JP to dazzle my ears and mind with music he knows I’ll enjoy.
