Sometimes I think I did but I didn’t.
I’ve been wearing out the bits on Julien Baker’s July release B-Sides, a 3-song EP on Matador, since I first heard “Guthrie,” a heart wrenching acoustic guitar and vocal piece about:
Oh, I miss when I was certain about every little thing
So scared of forgetting that I put it down in ink
Used to call upon the Spirit, now I think Heaven lets it ring
Wanted so bad to be good, but there’s no such thing
I dig the rawness, the searching, the pain, “When I hit the bottom, start pulling up floorboards.”
Perfect.
I thought I’d written about B-Sides but I didn’t.
