I’ve been impatiently awaiting the release of Celeste Epiphany Waite’s debut record since falling hard for her 2019 EP Lately. Her smoky sullen voice had me swooning on the softer stuff and then her power kicked in, with an emotive range of dizzying proportions.
I’m Not Your Muse is a double LP’s worth of modern soul kissed by the singular voice and vision of Celeste, which soars and simmers and swings, hard. While I’m more attracted to the simpler stuff, there’s more than enough for fans of the voice to sink their ears and hearts into.
