Audiovector Goes Back to the Future With the Trapeze Reimagined Loudspeakers

The first pairs of Audiovector’s wedge-shaped Trapeze loudspeakers hit the market back in 1979 when Donna Summer had 3 singles in Billboard’s Year-End Top 100.

The Trapeze was also Audiovector’s first commercial loudspeaker and the new Reimagined version builds on the original foundation while getting a number of updates some 45 years on.

The 3-way Trapeze houses a proprietary 12″ high-power mid/bass driver, a 5″ high speed midrange driver, and a purpose-designed Audiovector SEC Air Motion Transformer (AMT) tweeter.

The Trapeze Ri site on a 2-layer aluminum plinth that offers with builtin decoupling via carbon steel ball bearings and stylish, efficiently machined Audiovector spikes.

“Although far from the ubiquitous shape of conventional slim cabinets, the Trapeze Ri – excels in transporting the listener to the atmospheric heart of a live event, as close as possible to the stage and the performers. We achieve this sensation by placing a diffraction absorbing felt area around the treble and midrange drivers. This helps to create a rare and natural soundstage,” says Ole Klifoth, Founder.

The Audiovector Trapeze Ri offer a 23 Hz – 53 kHz frequency response with an 8 Ohm average impedance and 88 dB sensitivity (@ 1m for 2.83Vrms input).

Standard matte finishes: Black Ash, Nordic Oak, Italian Walnut, White Silk

The Trapeze Ri are priced at $19,950/pair and will begin shipping in June 2024 but you can get a sneak peek at HIGH END Munich in Atrium 4.2, Room F203.

The New Audiovector Trapeze Reimagined
Offers a New Angle on Audio Perfection

(Audiovector, Copenhagen, Denmark April 2024)Audiovector is excited to announce the release of the new Trapeze Reimagined. Inspired by the original 1979 Trapez, the very first Audiovector loudspeaker, this iconic update features the very latest, most innovative technology available. The Trapeze Reimagined will be officially launched at HIGH END Munich 2024, the world’s leading international audio show, and available for delivery from June 3rd.

In 1979 Ole Klifoth created the iconic Trapez to reproduce the true sound of the concert hall as closely as possible. In doing so, he created the blueprint for all Audiovector speakers to come – including the pioneering focus on linear dynamics and linear phase through a true 6 dB per octave crossover.

The new Trapeze Ri is based on the same principles as the original heritage model.

A wealth of state-of-the-art features includes a 3-way floor standing design, 12-inch high-power mid/bass driver, 5-inch-high speed midrange, and purpose-designed Audiovector SEC Air Motion Transformer (AMT) tweeter – the only AMT-tweeter on the market that stays true to the original design from audio genius Dr. Oscar Heil.

“As we build on our 45-year legacy, our focus remains on upholding our founding values while pushing the boundaries of audio technology,” explains CEO Mads Klifoth.

“Audiovector is dedicated to growing our presence around the world – and the Trapeze Ri embodies our commitment to captivating audio enthusiasts worldwide with a uniquely natural sound, timeless Danish-inspired design, and uncompromising quality down to the finest details.”

The three drivers combine to achieve an even power, flat frequency response to match the famous Brûel & Kjaer ideal room response. A diffraction absorbing felt area around the treble and midrange drivers helps to create a rare and natural soundstage that transports the listener to the heart of a live event. The low frequency tuning, meanwhile, adds weight and drama to any music.

The extremely low distortion of the bass driver allows unusually natural and dynamic vocals as well as a beautifully rich sound without boom or bloom.  Effortlessly handling bass, midrange, and treble, it delivers an open, rich, musical, and rhythmic reproduction of all kinds of music in all kinds of settings. The Trapeze Reimagined also incorporates a number of design techniques to create a cabinet that effectively eliminates standing waves.

Like all Audiovector loudspeakers, the Trapeze Ri represents timeless Danish design. Angled toward the listener yet remaining parallel to the back wall, the iconic lopsided cabinet adds a subtle dash of timeless elegance to any room.

Join us for the official launch of the Audiovector Reimagined at HIGH END Munich on Thursday 9th May between 15:00 and 17:00, Room Atrium 4.2, Room F203.
