Album of the Week: Cyano by Emily A. Sprague

I’ve waxed on about Emily A. Sprague’s other musical adventures as part of the band Florist.

Jellywish by Florist made last year’s Favorite Albums list and Emily Alone as well as their self-titled album from 2022 see regular visits here in the Barn. I’m a fan.

From the liner notes for Cyano which was released last month on RVNG Intl.:

Conjured around the idea of an imagined planet whose inhabitants are rebuilding forbidden capacities for expressivity and emotional connection, Cyano is a meditation on visibility, psychic transformation, light transmission, and worlds beyond our knowing materialized through an intuitive use of modular synthesizers and voice.

There’s a gentle otherness at play here, an almost woozy meandering spirit that feels weightless. Near zero gravity with all songs composed, produced and performed by Emily A. Sprague.
