Album of the Week: Willoughby Tucker, I’ll Always Love You by Ethel Cain

I’m enthralled with Ethel Cain’s planned trilogy, especially the second act.

Willoughby Tucker, I’ll Always Love You acts as a prequel to Cain’s studio album debut Preacher’s Daughter from 2022. Her drone outing, Perverts, came in January and to my ears Willoughby Tucker, released in August, certainly has its fair share of that sound.

Willoughby Tucker clocks in at over an hour and spreads over two LPs which is just fine by me—I like to fully submerse in these stories, moods, and music and find the atmosphere here as humid and creepy as season 1 of True Detective.

People who are certain about things they know nothing about hold no interest for me whereas creativity rooted in the uncertainties that we all live through are well worth listening to. You can find places to purchase the LP from Ethel Cain’s website.
