The original Technics SL-1200 was unleashed into the world of record lovers and DJs back in 1972, when I was still in elementary school, which does not seem like just yesterday.
The SL series ‘tables have seen upgrades over the years and with its 2016 revival, a new digital-based motor control. But as we know with all things 1s and 0s, there’s always room for improvement and the new SL-1200GR2/SL-1210GR2 house a new Delta-Sigma-Drive and coreless direct-drive motor for higher accuracy and improved electromagnetic conversion accuracy.
Other highlights of the new ‘tables include a new low-noise, multi-stage power supply, a sleek exterior thanks to color coordination and matching components on all elements, and 3 mm die-cast aluminum cartridge spacers to ensure greater cartridge compatibility.
The Technics SL-1200GR2 (silver) and SL-1210GR2 (black) will be available at authorized Technics retailers in December 2023 for $2,199.99.
