The new Tidal Piano Classic are based on the company’s first speaker which hit the scene in 1999 and this ‘reinterpretation’ represents the new entry point into the Tidal lineup at $31,990/pair.
The Tidal Piano Classic is a classic 2.5 way design housing the company’s exclusive 30 mm (1.2”) black-ceramic tweeter and a 2x exclusive 170 mm (7”) black crystalid mid-woofer and woofer per side. Frequency response is not listed in the speaker’s specifications but the Piano Classic offer a 4 Ohm nominal impedance and the company recommends a minimum of 30 Watts of power to drive ’em (and it better be an extremely stout 30 Watt amp that can handle low impedance swings).
There’s plenty going on inside that piano black cabinet which is made from waterproof HDF while stainless steel and aluminum are used to support the drivers and provide added structural stability.
The Classic Piano weigh in at 120 lbs a piece and the passive crossover network alone accounts for 28 of those pounds.
Tidal’s Vario-terminal allows for three different setups—pure 2-way (for very small rooms), linear 2.5-way (for medium sized rooms), gained 2.5-way (for bigger rooms or more bass in medium sized rooms). Nice!
