ELAC, makers of some of the best deals inhifi, have revamped their popular Uni-Fi speaker line to 2.0 status. Think. . .better.
From the company:
The Uni-Fi 2.0 has been completely re-designed from the ground up with newly developed drivers, waveguides, cabinets and networks resulting in a line that is easier to setup, offers greater compatibility, and offers significant performance improvements.
The 3-way bass reflex Uni-Fi 2.0 line consists of three speakers: the UB5.2 Bookshelf ($599.98/pair), UC5.2 Center ($399.98/pair), and UF5.2 Floorstander ($1298/pair). The Bookshelf speaker’s frequency response is rated at 46-35,000 Hz, while the Floorstanders add another 4Hz to the bottom end.
As you can see from the photos, the Uni-Fi 2.0 speaker’s port is now front-firing which helps account for the ease of placement comment in the press release while the new and higher 6 Ohm nominal impedance (and 85 dB @ 2.83v/1m sensitivity) make the 2.0 more amplifier-friendly. The CARB2 rated MDF-braced cabinets are covered in black ash vinyl.
