CAF 2021: VPI Rocks JBLs

And I mean rocks! Serendipity graced my time in one of two VPI rooms at CAF 2021 in the form of one Michael Fremer,  Mr. Analog Planet, and his stunning-sounding unobtainium unreleased 45RPM copy of Who’s Next.

Playing through the mightily impressive and perfect for this kind of music JBL Everest Loudspeakers ($75,000/pair), which sport dual 15″ woofers that helped deliver all the punch of Moon, I sat back, smiled, and took in this power music played as powerfully as I’ve ever heard.

A T+A PA 3100 HV Integrated Amplifier ($23,500) powered those big JBL’s while a VPI HW-40 Anniversary Direct Drive Turntable ($20,000) mounted with the company’s Fatboy Anniversary Tonearm traced the grooves (I did not note the cartridge in play).

Stunning! Big! Bravo!
