What’s better, for reviewing, than one?
Two. As I begin my dive into personal listening through review gear that offers a headphone out, I wanted to have two pair of well known and well loved headphones on hand for the endeavor. And my research, mostly through a few friends who know from ‘phones, led me to the first dynamic open-back headphone from Meze Audio, the Meze Audio 109 Pro.
From the Meze Audio website:
It all started when Antonio was searching for a pair of headphones that he could relate to, in the same way he felt connected to his Fender Stratocaster guitar.
As I’ve shared on more than one occasion, I owned a late 60’s white Strat back in the early ’80s (which I stupidly sold), a kind of hommage to Jimi Hendrix, my guitar hero growing up.
“At the core of it all, music is an expression of emotion, a celebration of life and a token of everlasting memories. Every part of the 109 PRO, from the premium materials we used to the intricate engineering, embodies that same emotion our favorite music makes us feel.” Antonio Meze, Lead Designer and Founder of Meze Audio
I feel an intimate connection to the Meze mission and look forward to living with the 109 Pro for our long term loan relationship.
The 109 Pro are an open-back design, once again a design approach very well suited for my tastes and the quiet environment here in the Barn that resides down a private dirt road on more than a handful of wooded acres where the most intrusive sounds, at the moment, come from the occasional overly excited cricket.
I recommend a visit to the Meze website to learn all about the 109 Pro.
