TEAC’s new AP-507 Stereo Amplifier measures 11.5″ across, weighs in at 9.75lbs. and puts out 70 Watts into 8 Ohms. Can you guess one thing that’s inside?
From the press release, “The AP-507 is equipped with TEAC’s own custom tuned new generation ‘NCOREx®’ power amplifier module manufactured by Hypex in the Netherlands.” Aha!
The AP-507 also offers BTL Mode (Bridge Tied Load) where you ‘tie’ the dual speaker outputs together for each channel if you want to up that power output to 350 Watts into 8 Ohms. Inputs include balanced XLR and single ended RCAs and as you can see there are small switches on the unit’s rear panel to select between them as well as Output Mode that also includes Bi-Amp for double the pleasure, double the fun.
The AP-507’s chassis is made from aluminum and steel and houses, among other things, a “Large toroidal transformer and 18,800 μF capacitors par channel.” This chassis, which comes in black or silver, is a perfect mate for other TEAC 500 Series components like the multi-talented UD-507 USB DAC/Headphone Amplifier/Preamp.
The TEAC the Reference 500 Series AP-507 Stereo Power Amplifier will be available in the Spring (2025) and comes with an asking price of $2199.
