Sonus faber Launches Lower-Priced Lumina Line

Che bello! Sonus faber’s new Lumina (the light) entry level line manages to maintain the Italian company’s good looks.

The Lumina collection includes three speakers — the Lumina I bookshelf ($899/pair), Lumina II floorstander ($2199/pair), and Lumina I center ($699/each). Each inherits the company’s D.A.D. (Damped Apex Dome) technology for their 1″ high definition tweeters. The Lumina II include 5″ proprietary natural fiber and paper blend air-dried diaphragm midrange drivers as found in the company’s Sonata series coupled with new 6″ paper cone woofers developed for the Lumina. The Lumina I adds a newly developed cellulose pulp and natural fiber 5″ midwoofer. The Lumina feature multilayer wood front baffles and a pair of nickel plated binding posts for those who choose to go bi-wire.

Sonus faber is clearly pitching lifestyle in the accompanying promotional material which is just fine by me.

Lumina collection is the new Sonus Faber line conceived on the notion that it is important to savor time for ourselves and celebrate life’s precious moments. In today’s world, we have come to fully appreciate our living spaces where these moments come to life. Our commitment is to deliver a luxury music experience in all Sonus faber homes, which is facilitated through our longstanding tradition of refined materials and careful craftsmanship.

The Lumina come in three finish options: Walnut and Wenge with Maple inlays, and Black. Expect to see the Lumina in dealer showrooms by the end of the month.

(I’m partial to Walnut)
