In Barn for Review: Thrax Enyo MK2 Vacuum Tube Stereo Integrated Amplifier

It’s been about 28 months since the Thrax Enyo integrated amplifier showed up here in the review pages.

And that’s what that one looked like, finished in black anodized aluminum.

And here’s the subject of today’s in Barn post, the Thrax Enyo MK2 in silver anodized aluminum from a photo I took at CAF 2025 that goes very nicely with the also recently arrived Thrax Lyra SE speakers. Yea, I have the entire Thrax CAF system in Barn. Why the Enyo re-visit? I wanted to hear the Thrax gear as a Thrax system and took this opportunity to do so. Besides, I enjoyed my Enyo time the first go around, “Infectious music-inspired energy of this caliber released into the Barn by the Enyo through four different speakers speaks to a voice that loves music as much as I do.”

The Thrax Enyo houses an optional Roon Ready streamer, a discrete DAC that supports up to 32-bit/768kHz PCM and DSD256, a MM and MC phono stage, passive tube preamp, and a pair of 50 Watt per channel fully differential DC-coupled single-ended triode-based mono amps all wrapped up in a single black anodized aluminum chassis. The full tube compliment includes two pair of 6N6Ps in the input and driver stages and Russian GU50 power pentodes providing output power. There is no global negative feedback employed in the Enyo.

The business end of the Enyo hosts 6x digital inputs, 1x MM/MC input, 2x single-ended and 1x balanced line level inputs as well as 4 and 8 Ohm speaker taps.

That’s a 4.3″ LCD display with six function buttons underneath for power On/Off, Menu, Input selection, Volume, and Select used in conjunction with the Menu functions which include a Balance control, Phase, Remote control setup, Display brightness, Phono stage source selection (MC or MM), and Digital filter options for the DAC (SD Slow / SD Sharp / Slow / Sharp / Bypass).

While I’ll certainly pair the Thrax integrated with the Thrax speakers, they’ll both also get plenty of play time with other gear in Barn. Stay tuned!
