In Barn for Review: Technics SL-G700M2 Network/SACD Player

The Technics SL-G700M2 plays all manner of discs including CDs, SACDs, and even MQA CDs in addition to offering network and USB inputs for playing or streaming your favorite music files. And being a Player means it handles D to A conversion to boot.

Inside reside dual mono ESS ES9026PRO DAC chips, a chip per channel, a Multi-Stage Silent Power Supply that provides thorough noise suppression in three stages: (1) High-speed switching power supply, (2) low-noise regulator, and (3) current injection active noise cancelling, and Current Injection Active Noise Canceling that removes unwanted noise components by applying an inverse phase current to the detected noise. Less noise, more music.

The SL-G700M2 supports Spotify Connect, Amazon Music, Deezer, TIDAL, Qobuz, Internet Radio, Chromecast built-in, AirPlay 2, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth covering all of your streaming needs (yes, no Roon).

You can also skip the Technics’ internal DAC  by using those digital outputs or run with the analog outs (fixed or variable).

there’s also a jack for your ‘phones

The SL-G700M2 is, as I’ve come to expect from Technics, beautifully built for the seriously fun business of playing music, weighing in at 27+ lbs. Hefty.

I plan to go analog out all the way and rummage through the Barn’s storage room for any stray SACDs!
