In Barn for Review: Sonus Faber Olympica Nova III

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder but I can’t imagine any other reaction to seeing the Sonus Faber Olympica Nova III than to declare, Che bella vista!

And the curves just keep coming, maintaining the typical asymmetrical Lute shape of first generation Olympica.

the review pair are finished in Walnut, with Wenge, a darker almost chocolate brown, being the other option

The Sonus Faber Olympica Nova III are the latest incarnation of the Olympica line that saw its debut in 2013.

Genuine Italian leather surrounds, caresses?, the 28mm silk soft dome tweeter and the 150mm air dried non-pressed blend of cellulose pulp, kapok, and kenaf (natural fibers) midrange driver. A pair of 180mm low mass high rigidity woofers fill out the bottom (end).

The curved cabinet walls are constructed from eight layers of bent wood and a pair of speaker binding posts await. A solid piece of extruded aluminum runs from each speaker’s top to bottom, off center, and acts as an extremely low turbulence porting system. The solid aluminum bottom plates come with spikes for firm footing. Protective cups are also supplied.

The top plates are also encased in aluminum for a fitting touch. The front grilles are optional.

All in all, damn handsome, if you ask me. My ears are very curious to get in on the action. Stay tuned.
