I’ve been told, by someone in the know, that the Octave Audio V 16 Single Ended Integrated Amplifier makes a great mate for the Barn resident DeVore Fidelity O/96. Always up for a dating game when it comes to hifi, a review sample has landed in Barn.
The Octave V 162 comes with a pair of Tung-Sol KT 120s that sit in the output stage but it can also handle KT 150s, KT 88s, or 6550s in the same spot. Pumping out about 8 Watts of power, only sensitive speakers need apply (for a date).
The V 16 sports 3 inputs (2x RCA, 1x XLR), a pair of speaker binding posts, IEC inlet, and a connector for the Black Box power supply’s umbilical cable.
The preamp stage uses 1x ECC 82 and 2x EF 800 tubes.
3 Function buttons, 3 Input buttons, 6.3 mm headphone jack, 4 pin XLR headphone jack, and volume control outfit the bottom portion of the towering V 16.
When I first saw, but did not hear, the Octave V 16 at Goodwin’s High End shop in Waltham, MA (as pictured above) I thought—well isn’t that lovely!
