How about a supertweeter shootout?
The Fyne S-Trax is the less expensive option in Fyne’s two-deep supertweeter lineup along with yesterday’s In Barn SuperTrax Supertweeter. I recommend giving that post a read for more info on supertweeters in general as well as links to some Fyne info on ’em.
Two main differences between the two, other than the obvious fit ‘n finish, are the drivers in use with the SuperTrax getting Fyne’s 25mm thin-ply carbon diaphragm (TPCD) and the S-Trax sporting a 25mm Magnesium dome along with claimed frequency responses of 16 kHz to 60 kHz (-6dB) and 16kHz – 50kHz (-6dB) respectively.
Like its longer brother, the S-Trax have a pair of binding posts, ground lug…
…and a +/- 4.5dB (from nominal setting) level setting to better mate to your speakers and taste.
And of course the same 360-degree omnidirectional dispersion (and space-age look). The S-Trax’s body is a nice chunky aluminum that weighs 2.2lbs.
From a purely visual perspective, I like the squared-off S-Trax look sitting atop the Fyne F501S that are also in Barn for review. We shall see what they add to what I hear. Stay tuned!
