I was mightily impressed by Atoll’s SDA300 Signature streaming DAC, so impressed I wanted to hear more. More Atoll (imagine Christopher Walken saying that last part).
So here I sit with the Atoll MS120 Streaming DAC that is Roon Ready, offers the triple crown of Connect apps (Tidal Connect, Qobuz Connect, and Spotify Connect), DLNA/UPnP support, Internet Radio, and more via the free ATOLL Signature 2 app for Android and iOS.
Dual antennae bring in WiFi and Bluetooth (4.2) (I always go with wired Ethernet) but the back panel surprise includes not one but two line level RCA inputs which makes the MS120’s analogue volume control make even more sense. You’ll also find 2x Optical and 2x Coax inputs (there is no USD DAC input), as well as a USB Type-A for connecting USB storage.
The included remote provides functions that mimic the front panel buttons and more while it can control other Atoll products as well. I will also note that the analog volume control can be bypassed for those who prefer to do that elsewhere.
Seeing as I always run with Roon, the MS120 becomes a plug ‘n play device and I plan to begin playing very soon. Stay tuned!
