In Barn for Review: A Cambridge Audio EX Stack | EXN100 Music Streamer & EXA100 Stereo Integrated Amplifier

That was fast! The new Cambridge EX Stack is in Barn for review.

I’m going to point you to the associated EX Series press release post because it includes all of the nitty gritty details.

The EXN100 Music Streamer is a full featured streaming DAC built around Cambridge’s StreamMagic Gen 4 platform and supports Roon, Google Home, and Apple AirPlay with access to Spotify Connect, TIDAL Connect, Deezer, Qobuz, and Internet Radio.

The EXN100 is also packed with ins and outs including USB, TOSLINK optical and S/PDIF digital inputs joined by single-ended RCA and balanced XLR outputs. The EXN100 also has a Preamp Mode that makes a perfect mate for the EXN100’s Power Amp Mode which bypasses its own preamp section.

The matching EXA100 Stereo Integrated Amplifier offers 100 Watts per channel of Class AB power built around the same amplifier modules and power transistors as found in the Edge M power amps (see my glowing review). THe EXA100 also has a DAC inside, based on the ESS Sabre ES9028Q2M DAC. Why get the EXN100 seeing as the EXA has its own DAC? For the EXA’s streaming capabilities and to up the sound quality ante.

Busy, busy busy.

I plan to mate the two for some in Barn action. Stay tuned!
