I’ve been following Margaret Sohn, aka Miss Grit, since their debut full-length Follow The Cyborg landed 3 years ago.
In an interview on Under the Radar, Sohn talks about the desire to be more open with Under while finding inspiration from Rhianna, FKA twigs, and Björk:
“I’m a big fan of FKA twigs and Björk,” she says. “Both are very emotive in their singing and lyrics, and that inspired me. Maybe in the past with lyrics, I’d been avoiding revealing too much.”
Under is densely layered and processed following on from Cyborg but there’s more air here, more singing out, more release, more humanness. Color me taken.
