Just after David Lynch died in January of last year, after the outpouring of love and tributes from all manner of people inside and outside film, Scared Bones sold some of his stuff.

Odds and ends from the ‘Warehouse‘ and I couldn’t resist buying “A Spineless Chicken Shit Poster” for $30 (there are still some available).
Fast forward to recently and I was thinking about Lynch’s Erasehead thanks to Xui Xui’s Eraserhead Xiu Xiu album and it dawned on me that I’d never opened that poster. Never taken it out of the tube so I did (that’s a photo of mine) and it is as Lynchian as Lunchian gets and I’m not at all sure what I’m going to do with it. Perhaps hang it in some out of the way place in the Barn where it can give me the unsettling creeps whenever I pass it by.
All to say I’ve been exploring some alt kinda thoughts and places and sounds of late and among my recent favorites, by a margin, is The Moth by Chicago’s Cancer House, released on Motion Ward back in March.
The band:
Guitar/Bass/Vocals – Keeyan
Bass/Guitar/vocals – Lily
Guitar/Drums/Vocals – Alex
Viola – Whitney
As you can read the rest of that poster says “Moving Sullenly Through Its Own Desolate Environment” and I can think of no better way to describe the experience of listening through The Moth albeit with aching beauty mixed in to lighten the burden.
