With music, familiarity can breed endearment.
I hear ghosts of a few other artists in the captivating music of London-based producer and songwriter feeo on her debut full length album Goodness including Beth Gibbons and Grouper, two artists whose work brings me places I feel compelled to go even when I’m unaware of the destination. Goodness has a similar wandering and mysterious spirit, a kind of floating above the Earth quality that connects me to thoughts beyond the day. An escape, of sorts.
From the liner notes:
feeo describes the album as “an exploration of simultaneous yet opposing states of being; darkness and lightness, obscurity and visibility and most fundamentally, solitude and togetherness. Each song is an adumbration; a partial sketch of one aspect of the LP – each finding its complete meaning when read in the context of the whole.”
There’s also plenty of real beauty to be found here amidst the tussle.
