Album of the Week: Cowboy Sadness | Selected Jambient Works Vol. 1

They had me at Cowboy Sadness.

And there’s nothing wrong with forlorn and lovely.

Cowboy Sadness is Peter Silberman on Baritone Guitar & Synth, David Moore on Rhodes & Farfisa (I love me a Farfisa which is why I own an old Pianorgan by Farfisa of Ancona, Italy), and Nicholas Principe on Drums & Synth.  Selected Jambient Works Vol. 1, released on People Teeth last month, is as may have surmised ambient and jammy, but not of the endlessly meandering limp noodle variety thank goodness as that shit puts me to sleep or in a bad mood or both.

Selected Jambient Works Vol. 1 sprawls over 57-minutes with nary a dull moment combining layers, textures, moods, and movements that reach all the way into Paris, Texas if you get my drift. Vastness, in sight or sound, can feel full of sadness.
