Phoebe Bridgers, Julien Baker, and Lucy Ducas are boygenius and that alone was enough information for me to know this record would end up here.
Very nearly a guilty pleasure, very nearly because I don’t care what people think about the music I choose to listen to, the record is one of those rare albums where the participants are clearly and unabashedly having fun even when grappling with issues that aren’t. I suppose this is one reason some people choose not to like the record, they themselves being too serious or too important for it—fun.
Let your hair down, put on your best smile on, and get with the record’s harmonies, hurt, and joy.
