How’d I miss this?
Purveyors of heavy The Body and BIG|BRAVE joined forces in 2021 for Leaving None But Small Birds, a tribute album if you will to their shared love of traditional folk music. Kinda unexpected, right?
Sound wise, Leaving Nothing leans toward the traditional but there’s an underlying heaviness like an approaching storm in drone form that adds drama to these tales of love and loss. Yet I hear real joy in the making which lends listening through Leaving None But Small Birds an additional dose of near mystical delight.
One of the appealing things about “folk” is wonder. You don’t want to miss this.
