My friend (and one of my favorite writers on all things hifi) Art Dudley voices his views on streaming in this month’s Stereophile. I quote, “Then again, maybe it’s time to heave ourselves up out of our Lay-Z-Boys, find the switch that controls the sodastream of abundant everything, and turn it the fuck off.”
I never liked the word/term “audiophile.” One reason being auto-correct tries to correct a misspelling to “pedophile.” Really, try it.
Yes? No? Maybe?
Why films? Because films are slices of life with a soundtrack and some of us fill our lives with music to help shape / improve our perception. Just like in the movies.
What do you think the next big thing in hifi will be?
While my musical appetite is omnivorous, my tastes in reading about new music are comparatively spartan.
There’s a sea of hifi gear out there, more than any one, two, or three (or more) people can cover. While we have our ideas and interests, I’d love to hear from you about what you’d like to see picked from the shoal for review.
Back when I was editor of AudioStream, I ran a feature most Mondays called “Lovely Recordings” and it was one of my favorite things about AS. For those who are not familiar with Lovely, the posts were reader-submitted lists of some favorite music with explanations about why this music was special. Note, they were not reviews. They were, ideally, stories.
